LGBTQAI+ Community

Society makes a lot of assumptions about people’s genders based on appearance. We are taught that curves are not masculine and that one must be dainty to be feminine. Our society alienates individuals who do not match the narrow binary definitions of those bodies that are deemed acceptable.

Disordered eating behaviors may develop in an attempt to change one’s body shape/ size to meet society’s expectations. It is critical to bring gender and dysphoria into work with food to find a balance between freedom with food and maximizing comfort in the body.
